 List of Ansell's Pubs Wanted

Member John French has set himself the task of creating a register of Midlands pubs - by brewery! Being a very organised sort of person, John has decided to start at the beginning with the letter 'A'.

Consequently he is on the lookout for a list of Ansell's pubs! Any date will do as a starting point. If anyone can provide John with information - or any other lists of pubs of other Midland breweries, please email him at:

ISS seeks Area Representatives

At the Spring meeting of the general Committee, it was agreed to seek to re-introduce representatives for the various areas of the country.

The Society tends to rely on a small number of people and it is hoped the concept of area representatives will  generate ideas, provide support and help raise the profile of the Inn Sign Society.

In proposing the motion, the Vice Chairman said that a number of members had expressed an interest to be more closely involved within the Society.

The role is primarily seen as a contact between members and committee as well as between members within the respective area. The post holder will also be seen as the person 'on the ground', who is prepared to be the local contact for persons seeking information about the Society.

The areas will correspond to the regions of the Sign of the Year Awards.

In brief, the 11 areas are:

East Anglia (inc. Beds & Northants)
East Midlands (inc. Rutland)
Home Counties (excl. London post codes)
London (London post codes)
North East (East of the Pennines)
North West (inc. Cheshire & IOM)
South (Hants, IOW, Sussex, Oxon, Wilts & Channel Islands)
South West (inc. Dorset & Gloucs)
West Midlands
Scotland
Wales

The post holder will not be expected to travel to all points of the region, but it is hoped he or she will already have a better than average  knowledge of pub signs within the relevant area.

Access to a computer with email facilities is considered desirable, though not essential.

Members, attracted to the proposal, are invited to express their interest by contacting the Secretary:
